Using the map

Layers and current data

The map is a convenient display of public information. Confirm material permit decisions against the official NZP&M register and source records.

Updates and temporary outages

You normally do not need to reinstall the app

When the device is online, close and reopen the permit map to allow the installed app to check for an updated map version. New permit information is retrieved separately through the Wairiri cache.

If the map says NZP&M is unavailable, it is displaying the last successfully loaded permit dataset. Check the update time, continue cautiously with the cached snapshot and confirm time-sensitive decisions against the official register. Current data and uncached map tiles require an internet connection.
